Vitesco Technologies, a renowned global provider of contemporary drive technologies and sustainable mobility solutions, has finalized a strategic cooperation arrangement with Baosteel, a major steel conglomerate headquartered in China. This partnership was formalized at Vitesco Technologies’ China headquarters.
By collaboratively focusing on novel materials based on high-grade non-oriented silicon steel, the primary objective of both entities is to contribute to sustainable mobility, drive the advancement of e-mobility technology, and establish a paradigm of shared value within the industry.
Gregoire Cuny, Head of Vitesco Technologies China, highlighted the pivotal role of partnerships in the rapid development of the market and expressed optimism regarding the collaboration with Baosteel. He emphasized the potential to reinforce their endeavors and aspirations in the domains of technology and sustainability.
Baosteel’s Hu Hong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager, described the cooperation between the two organizations as a mutually beneficial process. The partnership, which was initially initiated in 2018 with materials for motors on the EMR3 platform, has now advanced to a more comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement. This extended collaboration is poised to contribute significantly to the e-mobility sector.
One of the collaborative targets centers on high-grade non-oriented silicon steel, which can be employed in stator and rotor laminations for drive motors. Its exceptional magnetic induction intensity and low iron loss attributes hold the potential to substantially enhance motor efficiency and stability.
Additionally, Vitesco Technologies and Baosteel will jointly engage in the development and design of new materials and technologies to expand the application of this high-grade silicon steel within the automotive domain.
Anticipated to find utility in Vitesco Technologies’ future e-drive systems and thermal management systems, these technical achievements are expected to offer elevated electromagnetic performance and mechanical properties, reinforcing Vitesco Technologies’ position as a provider of cutting-edge electrification solutions.
