Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Steelbird Hi-Tech India, a renowned helmet manufacturer, unveils ambitious expansion and innovation plans. To cater to the increasing demand from OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and the aftermarket, the company intends to invest Rs 250 crore in establishing a new manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Concurrently, they aim to boost production by 50,000 units per day at their existing Baddi facility.
With a focus on enhancing brand presence both domestically and internationally, Steelbird plans to introduce 70 new helmet models this year. In celebration of their milestone anniversary, they launched the SBA-17 RDX open-face helmet, boasting advanced safety features such as a robust thermoplastic shell, replaceable cheek pads, high-density EPS for impact resistance, and a scratch-resistant polycarbonate visor with an integrated Inner Sun Shield. Early buyers will receive a complimentary smoke visor, as per the company’s announcement.
On the retail front, Steelbird is actively expanding its Riderz Shoppe network, with a target of adding 800 more stores by the end of 2025. These specialized outlets offer a diverse range of helmets, riding gear, and accessories, providing a personalized shopping experience to biking enthusiasts while advocating for the use of ISI-certified helmets.
In 2023, Steelbird achieved global sales of over 80 lakh helmets, generating revenue of Rs 687 crore. Rajeev Kapur, the Managing Director of Steelbird Hi-Tech India, expressed pride in the company’s six-decade journey, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to delivering superior products and promoting road safety.
