Uber has announced an expansion of its She++ initiative, underscoring its dedication to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the technology sector. This initiative aims to provide early-career opportunities for women, individuals with disabilities, and other underrepresented students to intern with Uber’s engineering teams, offering them valuable insights and experience in the technology field.
Initially focused on promoting women in engineering, the She++ initiative has broadened its scope to encompass a wider range of diversity. This year, it received over 4,000 applications from prestigious engineering colleges across India, reflecting a growing interest in workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion. Held at Uber’s Bangalore Campus on March 7, the event provided students with a unique chance to engage with Uber’s leadership and HR professionals.
Dawn Carter, Uber’s Director of Global Talent Acquisition, commented, “At Uber, we are dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating an environment where all individuals can thrive. The expansion of She++ to include individuals with disabilities and others represents a significant step in our mission to foster a more inclusive society. As Uber continues to prioritize diversity and inclusion, She++ serves as a cornerstone in our efforts to build a more equitable future for all. Through initiatives like She++, Uber not only shapes the trajectory of technology but also seeks to drive positive societal change.”
The She++ professional development program provides a platform for early-career talent to learn from industry leaders, develop essential skills, and expand their professional networks. This year’s event featured engaging activities such as fireside chats with industry leaders, speed mentoring sessions, networking lunches, and opportunities to contribute to Uber’s innovative projects.
