Toyota has initiated the initial vehicle deliveries to fortify the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, affirming its role as the global mobility partner of both the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee.
In total, Toyota will supply a passenger vehicle fleet surpassing 2,650 electrified vehicles and 700 electric last-mile mobility solutions. Among these offerings are 250 Accessible People Movers (APMs), specifically re-engineered for Paris 2024 and manufactured in Europe.
This demonstrates the company’s commitment to showcasing inclusive and sustainable mobility at Paris 2024, ensuring athletes, stakeholders, staff, volunteers, and spectators can move around safely during the Games while minimizing environmental impact.
The Paris 2024 fleet’s pivotal handover ceremony took place on March 1 against the backdrop of the Paris 2024 HQ (Pulse building), attended by notable figures including Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024, Yoshihiro Nakata, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, Frank Marotte, CEO of Toyota France, and Didier Gambart, President of KINTO Europe.
This symbolic event underscored the collaboration between Toyota and the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, featuring the unveiling of the specially crafted Paris 2024 visual identity application. The design showcases Toyota’s multi-path strategy toward carbon neutrality, with distinct colors representing each vehicle technology present at the Games.
Throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, all Toyota vehicles, including the electrified fleet and advanced mobility solutions, will adopt the specially designed Paris 2024 visual identity, emphasizing the strong partnership between Toyota and the Games while highlighting the company’s commitment to carbon neutrality through distinct colors representing each technology.
Jaime Noriega, Technical Manager of the Styling Division at Toyota Motor Europe, explained that the designs for the Paris 2024 car fleet integrate graphic elements from the Look of the Games, establishing a visual connection between the Games and activities on and off the playing fields. Careful color selection aligns with Toyota’s multi-path strategy, with blue representing fuel cell hydrogen vehicles, green for battery electric vehicles, and purple for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Toyota’s multi-path strategy exemplifies its dedication to sustainability and its Environmental Challenge 2050. By 2050, the company aims for carbon neutrality globally, and in Europe by 2040.
Yoshihiro Nakata, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, expressed Toyota’s enthusiasm for partnering with Paris 2024 and its commitment to pioneering sustainable mobility solutions. The company’s 100% electrified passenger vehicle fleet for Paris 2024 underscores its dedication to reducing carbon emissions.
Additionally, Toyota’s Kinto Share car-sharing service has been supporting the professional needs of Organizing Committee employees since September 2023, providing flexible mobility solutions during preparations for the Games. Moreover, the company has introduced the C+Walk S units to Paris 2024 employees with disabilities, enabling free movement within the Pulse building—a preview of the 700 units to be delivered for athletes, staff, and spectators to support Mobility for All during the Games.
