Renault’s Scenic E-Tech Electric has been named The Car of the Year 2024. The announcement took place during a ceremony at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland on February 26.
The electric SUV garnered 329 votes from a panel of 59 journalists representing 22 countries, closely followed by the BMW 5 Series with 308 votes. The Peugeot 3008 secured the third position with 197 points. The Kia EV9 claimed fourth place with 190 votes, followed by the Volvo EX30 in fifth with 168 votes, and the BYD Seal in sixth with 131 votes. The Toyota C-HR, the only car on the shortlist without a pure-electric powertrain, landed in seventh place with 127 votes.
The Scenic E-Tech marks Renault’s seventh vehicle to receive the esteemed ‘The Car of the Year’ accolade. Previous winners include the Renault 16 (1966), Renault 9 (1982), Clio (1991), Scenic (1997), Megane (2003), and Clio (2006).
Developed on the medium AmpR platform (formerly CMF-EV), the Scenic E-Tech Electric caters to customers seeking versatility. With zero emissions, agility, a lightweight of 1,890 kg, and compact dimensions of 4.47 meters, the Scenic is ideal for urban environments. For longer journeys, it offers up to 379 miles / 606 kilometers of range (WLTP), spacious interiors, and advanced technology for an enhanced driving experience.
