Tesla has updated its electric vehicles’ software to version 2022.20, which enables them to scan rough roads for damage like potholes. To ensure the comfort of the driver and passengers, the vehicle’s suspension will automatically be adjusted if a problem is found.
It operates by downloading map information that shows where the road damage is. If a newly damaged area is found, the map data will be updated and shared with other vehicles the following time.
This was a patent application Google filed back in 2015, and it called for the addition of extra sensors to vehicles. The instrument cluster will show when the suspension is raised for comfort, so you’ll know when it’s in use.
