STMicroelectronics has expanded its ST25R NFC reader IC range with the ST25R3920, a new addition to the successful digital vehicle key series. The new gadget includes improved features for improved performance, such as faster key response and a longer range.
Digital keys allow drivers to lock and unlock their vehicles using their cellphones, and they also provide additional functions such as easy sharing and management of access credentials for other users such as friends or valets. They may also allow for new vehicle ownership models, such as automotive subscription services. The Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) Digital Key Release 2.0, which uses NFC, even allows you to use the key while your phone’s battery is so low that normal device operation is disabled.
ST, a leader in digital car-key technology, is now extending the state-of-the-art with the ST25R3920, having pioneered NFC-access roll-out in automobiles over the last years and currently providing well-known US, European, and Asian automotive brands. The new device, which incorporates innovative Dynamic Power Output (DPO) and Noise-Suppression Receiver (NSR) technologies, boosts RF output power and provides an improved input-circuit design for faster car-key response and more user convenience.
