Shoichiro Toyoda, the father of Akio Toyoda and the honorary chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation, passed away at the age of 97 on February 14th due to heart failure, according to a statement released by the company. He was the third-generation scion of the Toyoda family, and had a pivotal role in transforming Toyota into the global leader it is today. Joining the company in 1961, he was appointed managing director and worked to improve product quality. His leadership and dedication to Toyota has left a lasting legacy, and he will be fondly remembered.
