The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, introduced on January 16, 2023, has made an impressive mark in its first year with a total of 13,997 units sold by the end of January 2024. The cruiser, celebrating its first anniversary last month, has significantly contributed to Royal Enfield’s dominance in the 500-800cc motorcycle segment, achieving a remarkable 97% market share in the first 10 months of the fiscal year 2023-2024.
The Super Meteor 650, powered by a 648cc air- and oil-cooled parallel-twin engine, shares its success with the 650 Twins – Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, collectively selling 26,775 units from April 2023 to January 2024. This robust performance translates to an 82.50% year-on-year growth, solidifying Royal Enfield’s stronghold in the 500cc-800cc motorcycle category.
In terms of market competition, the Super Meteor 650 and the 650 Twins outshine other players in the segment, accounting for 97% of the total 27,677 units sold during the ongoing fiscal year. Notable contributions from Triumph Motorcycles India, India Kawasaki Motors, and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India make up the remaining 3%.
The Super Meteor 650, priced between Rs 349,000 and Rs 379,000 (on-road Delhi) for its three variants – Astral, Celestial, and Interstellar, has been met with enthusiasm by riders. To celebrate its first anniversary, over 2,000 Super Meteor owners across 41 cities in India participated in a celebratory ride, showcasing the widespread popularity and acceptance of the cruiser.
Internationally, the Super Meteor 650 has gained traction and popularity, prompting Royal Enfield to introduce it in new markets. As part of the global expansion, the motorcycle is set to make its debut in Turkiye in March 2024.

Amidst this success, Royal Enfield continues to maintain robust sales momentum in the current fiscal year, with a total of 76,556 units sold in the domestic market in January 2024, reflecting a 4% year-on-year increase. The cumulative 10-month wholesales reached 700,829 units, showcasing a substantial 15% year-on-year growth and securing a 7% share of the overall motorcycle market.
As the Super Meteor 650 continues to carve its niche in the cruiser segment, Royal Enfield looks poised for a record-breaking fiscal year, building on its reputation for producing midsize motorcycles that resonate with riders worldwide.
