Marquardt, specializing in mechatronics, and software expert doubleSlash, have collaborated to introduce a comprehensive digital key system for the automotive industry. Compliant with Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) standards, this system integrates both hardware and software components.
The newly developed modular solution ensures robust, secure, and convenient vehicle access via smartphones. With its flexible features like creating, sharing, and revoking driving authorization, the Digital Key presents innovative possibilities. It serves as an advanced tool for customers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), car rental firms, fleet operators, and the commercial vehicle sector.
Marquardt and doubleSlash embark on a dynamic partnership with the Digital Key in Smart Access, foreseeing potential expansion into other business areas.
Their coordinated modular solution combines Marquardt’s PnD3 driving authorization system with doubleSlash’s Digital Key Services software. Secure digital keys are generated by storing relevant data in the secure elements of vehicle electronic control units and smartphones, utilizing communication technologies like Ultra-Wideband (UWB), NFC (Near Field Communication), or BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy).
Meeting stringent CCC standards, the solution ensures optimal integration into OEMs’ lifecycle processes without compromising security architecture. While existing digital key systems face challenges in adapting to CCC standards, Marquardt and doubleSlash offer a solution that accelerates market adoption.
Matthias Sekinger, Managing Partner Connected Mobility at doubleSlash, highlights the partnership’s customer benefits, emphasizing enhanced user experience and diverse use cases like key sharing and vehicle parameterization.
Wolfgang Stehle, Head of Product Segment Entry & Authorization Systems at Marquardt, underscores the secure and future-proof nature of their CCC-compliant digital key solution, enabling smarter access control and enhanced efficiency in vehicle operations.
