Automobili Lamborghini has introduced Telemetry X, an innovative concept for ‘track connectivity,’ applicable to the future lineup of super sports cars from the Italian manufacturer. The unveiling occurred at the Accenture Innovation Hub during the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES), where Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked, “Innovation is ingrained in our DNA, as evidenced by recent groundbreaking releases like the Revuelto and the fully-electric Lanzador concept car. Our upcoming supercars will not only deliver thrills but also offer truly immersive driving experiences. Telemetry X provides a glimpse into the connected services our customers can expect in the years to come.”
The integration of racing-inspired digital technologies coincided with the debut of the Huracán STO in 2020, the first Lamborghini super sports car equipped with a telemetry system accessible through the Unica app. Telemetry X anticipates a future immersive track driving experience, combining three systems developed in collaboration with Accenture: the Real Time Remote Garage (for remote coaching), the Biometric Data System, and the Digital Co-Pilot.
“Telemetry X is a clear example of how motorsport-derived experience can be applied to road-worthy super sports cars, aiming to maximize our customers’ on-track experience,” remarked Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer. The Revuelto was chosen as the testbed for this technological demonstrator, a car distinguished by the introduction of breakthrough technologies.”
The Remote Garage, a web application leveraging 5G technology, allows drivers to access real-time video recordings of their on-track performance and telemetry. Coaches can monitor live images and data, providing feedback and suggestions to the customer-driver not only after but also during the driving session. This approach enhances the overall track experience, focusing on user-friendly engagement to boost driver performance and enjoyment.
The Biometric Data System captures specific biometric data, including heart rate and stress levels, for comprehensive performance monitoring and useful references to refine training.
Both systems collaborate with the Digital Co-Pilot, a proactive voice assistant analyzing biometric and vehicle data. The Digital Co-Pilot offers real-time feedback to the pilot on the track, analyzing lap times and providing valuable insights for improving racing lines, braking points, and information on the car’s performance.
