Iveco Bus, the urban, intercity, and tourist bus brand under the Iveco Group, has secured its largest electric bus contract in Italy, valued at over 300 million euros. The contract involves the supply of 411 battery electric vehicles to ATAC SpA (Azienda per la mobilità), the public transport company of Rome, Italy’s capital city.
This initiative is part of ATAC’s strategic plan to enhance mobility with a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and accessibility. The contract not only includes the delivery of new electric buses, ranging in length from 12 to 18 meters but also encompasses a 10-year full-service maintenance plan for each vehicle.
The initial deliveries are anticipated by the end of 2024, with the remainder scheduled for completion by mid-2026. Domenico Nucera, President of the Bus Business Unit at Iveco Group, expressed pride in contributing to Rome’s transition to greener and more efficient mobility. He highlighted the recognition of Iveco Bus as a leading partner in the electric passenger transport sector, both nationally and internationally. The contract marks a significant step as the company continues to make strides in the evolving landscape of sustainable transportation.
