In the calendar year 2023, Renault Group achieved a notable 9% increase in worldwide sales, reaching a total of 2,235,345 vehicles. This success positioned the Group in the third place among car manufacturers in Europe, supported by the growth of its three core brands.
Renault Brand:
– Demonstrated a 9.4% growth, selling 1,548,748 vehicles globally in 2023.
– Emerged as the best-selling French brand globally.
– In Europe, recorded exceptional growth, surpassing the market with a 19.3% increase compared to 2022.
Dacia Brand:
– Achieved a remarkable 14.7% growth, selling 658,321 units in 2023.
– This performance was driven by Dacia’s robust new brand identity, focused on its four pillar models, all of which experienced growth compared to 2022.
Alpine Brand:
– Experienced a significant 22.1% growth, with 4,328 vehicles sold.
In Europe, the Group increased its market share by 18.6%, outpacing the market growth of 13.9%. The Group’s retail sales constituted 65% of its total sales in its primary European countries.
Renault Group continues to advance its electrification strategy, responding to the growing demand for hybrid and all-electric vehicles. The Renault brand is particularly gaining traction in Europe, securing the third position in electrified vehicles. The success of models like the Megane E-Tech electric and strong demand for hybrid powertrains, including Austral, Clio, and Captur, places Renault among the top 10 hybrid vehicles in Europe.
Dacia’s introduction of the Jogger Hybrid 140, launched in January 2023, has contributed significantly, accounting for over 25% of Jogger customer orders. The Dacia Spring, a 100% electric model, maintains its position among the top three European retail EV sales.
Looking ahead, the Group’s order book in Europe represents 2.5 months of forecast sales at the end of December 2023. The year 2024 is anticipated to witness a surge in commercial launches, with 104 new models key to the Group’s performance.
Renault’s ‘International Game Plan 2027’ revealed in 2023 aims for future growth beyond Europe, introducing eight new models between 2023 and 2027. In 2023, the Group’s development outside Europe was notably driven by Brazil, Turkey, and Morocco.
Despite these global achievements, there has been a notable decline in Renault India’s contribution to the Group. In CY2023, Renault India accounted for 48,321 units and a 1% market share, compared to its seventh ranking in CY2022 (87,118 units / 2% market share) among the Renault Group’s Top 15 global markets.
Renault India aims to revive its market standing with an ambitious plan to introduce five new models by 2027, emphasizing the company’s commitment to the Indian market. This initiative is part of Renault’s larger Renaulution 2024 strategy, which includes enhancements to existing models, a renewed customer experience strategy, and the revitalization of its used car program called Renew.
