Greaves Technologies, based in Bengaluru and a comprehensive provider of engineering, R&D, and digital services solutions within the Greaves Cotton Group, has entered into a partnership with Italy’s Danisi Engineering, a specialist in providing vehicle engineering and prototyping solutions for the automotive industry.
The collaboration intends to utilize Greaves Technologies’ presence in India to enhance the IT and software engineering capabilities of Danisi Engineering, offering opportunities for growth in India. Simultaneously, it presents Greaves Technologies with the prospect of expanding into the European market, where key customers for Danisi include Ferrari and Fiat.
While Greaves Technologies currently provides mechanical, system design, and virtual engineering services to prominent clients such as Daimler India Commercial Vehicles and Stellantis India, the company aims to integrate both IT and OT competencies to deliver enhanced value to its automotive customers, facilitating their digital transformation and reducing time-to-market.
Greaves Technologies manages a ‘Variant Factory’ for DICV in Chennai and operates offshore development centers for Stellantis in Hyderabad and Chennai, contributing to global projects for the US, Europe, and Asian countries.
According to Suman Nelluri, Executive Director at Greaves Technologies, the company is the exclusive partner for DICV for variant engineering, leveraging a specialized team for the German OEM’s Variant Factory. Nelluri highlighted the core competencies of Greaves Technologies, ranging from design engineering and reverse engineering to CFD simulations. The partnership with Danisi Engineering aims to integrate IT and OT capabilities effectively.
Based in Turin, Italy, Danisi Engineering specializes in vehicle dynamics, simulation, and architecture design. As part of the collaboration, Greaves Technologies will assist in establishing a global competency center for Danisi Engineering in India. Nelluri emphasized the trust and brand value that Greaves brings to the partnership and expressed confidence in quickly ramping up Danisi Engineering’s operations in India.
While the discussions between the two companies began in July, the formal agreement was reached in November 2023. Each engineering project will have its individual commercial agreement, with the scope of investment varying based on project requirements.
With its presence in the US, Greaves Technologies aims to target emerging large bus companies and recreational vehicle (RV) manufacturers in the US market, which is witnessing the entry of new players into electrification. Additionally, with Danisi Engineering’s strong European presence, Greaves Technologies plans to benefit from the alliance and establish a technology office in Europe soon. Over the next five years, the companies aim to focus on niche areas of system design and engineering, leveraging each other’s competencies to win large global projects and collaborate in the market.
