FOTON Motor Group and the Piaggio Group have signed a contract to jointly develop a new range of electrically powered Porter vehicles for the European market. The two companies will leverage their respective expertise in electric vehicles and commercial vehicles to create a new generation of EVs that are tailored to the specific needs of European customers.
The new range of electric Porter vehicles will be manufactured in Italy and marketed through a network of dealers who specialize in the sale and support of commercial vehicles. The vehicles will feature innovative cybersecurity solutions, active and passive vehicle safety systems, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
The agreement between FOTON and Piaggio consolidates the positive partnership that the two companies have established. In 2021, the two companies launched the Porter NP6, a bi-fuel city truck that has been warmly received on the European market.
The development of the new range of electric Porter vehicles is a significant step forward for both FOTON and Piaggio, as well as for the European electric vehicle market. The vehicles will offer a combination of compact dimensions, high payload capacity, and advanced features, making them ideal for a variety of intra-city mobility applications.
The new electric Porter vehicles are expected to be launched in the main European countries by the end of 2024.
