Zac Hollis, the former director of sales and marketing at Skoda India, has joined Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast as its Asia sales operations director. Hollis, who previously served as the operations head for prestige models at MG Motor UK, will now oversee VinFast’s expansion into South East Asia and India. His appointment comes just months after joining MG Motor UK as Prestige Models Operations Director in October 2023.
In his new role at VinFast, Hollis will lead the brand’s sales operations in Asia as the EV startup aims to broaden its presence in foreign markets worldwide. The carmaker has already made inroads into North America and Europe, with significant investments planned for India. VinFast recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to invest up to $2 bln (over Rs 16,000 crore) into its India operations, including the establishment of a manufacturing facility in the state.
VinFast’s investment plans in Tamil Nadu encompass the establishment of a manufacturing facility. Hollis, who will play a pivotal role in VinFast’s entry into the Indian market, brings extensive experience gained over two decades with the Volkswagen Group. He held positions in both Europe and Asia, including serving as sales director in India and China for Skoda Auto. During his tenure in India, Hollis oversaw the launch of the Group’s first models under the India 2.0 project, as well as the expansion of the brand’s approved used car sales and fleet sales businesses. He also spearheaded the brand’s sales network expansion initiatives.
