Tools and equipment form the backbone of the automotive repair industry. Since the inception of the automotive aftermarket, improvements in tools and equipment have had a major impact on the efficacy of work – both direct and indirect way.
While the direct effect consists of a rise in labor productivity and accuracy along with greater reliability and higher utilisation rates, the indirect impact arises as improved tools may necessitate or facilitate organisational changes affecting labour, capital, raw materials, and energy.
This issue of KARREP contains reviews of the development of tools and equipment paying particular attention to the role of industry 4.0 in the automotive workshop ecosystem evolution.
We hope that you will enjoy this special issue and are delighted to welcome feedback. We wish you happy reading.
