Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, expressed his commitment to bringing the electric carmaker to India as soon as possible. His statement came after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was visiting the United States on a state visit.
During their meeting, the Indian government extended an invitation to Mr. Musk to explore investment opportunities in electric mobility and the commercial space sector. In response, Elon Musk mentioned that he was currently determining the optimal timing for Tesla’s entry into India.
Elon Musk also expressed admiration for Prime Minister Modi, referring to himself as a “fan” and highlighting India’s potential as a nation. He acknowledged that Mr. Modi’s encouragement and push for significant investments in India have motivated Tesla to consider entering the Indian market. Mr. Musk assured reporters that Tesla intends to establish a presence in India and will do so as soon as possible. The company has been engaged in discussions with Indian bureaucrats and ministers as part of its preparations to enter the domestic market.
