Brembo, the prominent leader in braking systems worldwide, has initiated the construction of its inaugural production facility in Thailand. The investment, amounting to approximately 40 million euros, underscores the Group’s strategy to extend its industrial footprint globally and capitalize on new growth prospects in the Southeast Asian region.
The new facility will produce braking systems for motorcycle manufacturers in Thailand, initially targeting European and American clients. Situated in the motorcycle industry hub of the country, in the Rayong province, south of Bangkok, the site is expected to employ around 150 individuals upon full operation.
Daniele Schillaci, Brembo CEO, remarked, “The launch of the new production facility in Thailand represents a pivotal milestone in our global expansion strategy.” He added, “We reinforce our presence in the crucial two-wheeler segment and solidify Brembo’s role as a solutions provider for our clients operating in the region. Through this investment, we establish the foundation for further business advancements in the ASEAN region.”
A local groundbreaking ceremony held on Friday, February 16, marked the beginning of construction activities. The site is slated to become operational in the first quarter of 2025, covering an area of about 17,000 square meters on a plot spanning roughly 40,000 square meters, expandable up to 95,000 square meters to accommodate future expansions.
This initiative supplements Brembo’s recent ventures in the motorcycle market, including the acquisitions of SBS Friction in Denmark and J.Juan in Spain between 2020 and 2021. These acquisitions have empowered the Group to enrich its product portfolio dedicated to two-wheelers. Presently, the motorcycle segment contributes approximately 13% to Brembo’s overall revenues.
Brembo, renowned for its design and production of high-performance braking systems and components for premier car, motorcycle, and commercial vehicle manufacturers, also competes in the most demanding motorsport championships globally and has secured over 600 titles. With operations spanning across 15 countries, encompassing 32 production and business sites, along with 9 R&D centers, Brembo employed over 15,000 individuals and achieved a turnover of 3.629 billion euros in 2022.
