Ashok Leyland has secured an order to deliver 552 ultra-low entry (ULE) diesel non-AC buses to the Tamil Nadu State Corporation (TNSTC), reaffirming its position as a preferred brand for the TNSTC, which currently operates more than 18,477 Ashok Leyland buses in its fleet. The newly ordered ULE buses are equipped with a H-series 6-cylinder 4-valve 184 kW (246 hp) engine, offering features such as step-less entry, rear engine configuration, automatic transmission, front disc brake, electronically controlled front and rear air suspension, and an Intelligent Transportation System with CCTV, destination boards reflecting vehicle location, and tracking.

The project is financially supported by the German Development Bank (KfW), and Ashok Leyland is scheduled to initiate the delivery of the buses from April 2024. Currently, Ashok Leyland stands as the fourth-largest manufacturer of buses globally and the largest bus manufacturer in India.
