The inaugural edition of ‘Khasdar Industrial Mahotsav – Advantage Vidarbha’ was launched in Nagpur by the Association of Industrial Development (AID). The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent figures from both Central and State Politics, including Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road, Transport, and Highways; Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Narayan Rane, Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in the Government of India; Sudhir Mungantiwar, Maharashtra’s Minister of Forests; and Praful Patel, Member of the Rajya Sabha.
Scheduled from January 27 to January 29, 2024, the industrial expo aims to foster industrial growth in Vidarbha and Maharashtra by providing a unified platform for local industries to exhibit their potential and explore business expansion opportunities. With over 250 exhibitors, 90% of which represent the Vidarbha industry, the event showcases the region’s diverse industrial landscape.
Ashish Harshraj Kale, President of the Association for Industrial Development (AID), emphasised that Advantage Vidarbha signifies more than just an industrial expo; it embodies a vision dedicated to contributing substantially to India’s self-reliance. The event drew participation from over 20 senior leaders in central and state government politics, reaffirming their support for enhancing Vidarbha’s industrial stature.
With robust infrastructure in water, power, transport, and telecommunication, Vidarbha holds promise for attracting industries. The region, spanning 11 districts, boasts biodiversity and investment potential in the tourism sector. On its inaugural day, the event facilitated the signing of more than 25 Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) between angel investors and startups in the region.
Advantage Vidarbha is poised to play a pivotal role in revitalizing and sustaining the region’s industrial development. Given Maharashtra’s significant contribution to India’s startup ecosystem, Advantage Vidarbha aims to nurture young talent and startups in tier 2 and 3 cities within the region.
