India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors, has delivered 100 electric buses to the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC). The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, officially launched the buses on January 1, 2024.
These zero-emission buses are domestically manufactured on a next-generation architecture, incorporating the latest features and powered by advanced battery systems, as stated in the press release.
Rohit Srivastava, Vice President and Business Head – CV Passengers at Tata Motors, expressed gratitude to the Assam State Government and ASTC for the opportunity to supply a modern fleet of electric buses. He emphasized Tata Motors’ mission to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of public transport, stating that the buses, built with cutting-edge technology and rigorously tested under various conditions, are eco-friendly and will contribute to making public transportation safe, comfortable, technologically advanced, and more efficient.
Tata Motors has already supplied over 1,500 electric buses to various cities in India, accumulating a total distance of more than 10 crore kilometers. These buses boast an impressive uptime of over 95% and are equipped with advanced features such as electronic stability control, electronic brake distribution, air suspension, Intelligent Transport System (ITS), and a panic button.
