Pune-based KPIT has joined forces with Microsoft to introduce the Azure OpenAI Service-powered Copilot, aiming to revolutionise automotive repair and maintenance.
Built on KPIT’s Trace2Fix root cause diagnostics platform, the Copilot addresses challenges in customer retention and dealership profitability arising from the complexity of vehicle systems and a global shortage of certified service technicians.
This collaborative solution is designed to maximise returns for stakeholders across the automotive aftersales value chain:
- Boosts OEM service: Reduces No-trouble-found (NTF) warranty claims and enhances customer loyalty with accurate first-time repairs, minimizing repeat visits for the same issue.
- Empowers dealerships: Improves service throughput, reduces repair times (mean-time-to-repair), and increases fixed-first-visit (FFV) rates.
- Enables first-time-right for technicians: Intelligent guidance assists technicians in diagnosing root cause issues faster, facilitating first-time-right repairs and significantly improving productivity.
Dominik Wee, Corporate Vice-President for Manufacturing and Mobility at Microsoft, highlighted the benefits of integrating Trace2Fix with Microsoft Azure AI solutions, emphasising enhanced operational efficiency and improved first-time-fix rates for automotive OEM repair and maintenance companies.
Pushpahas Joshi, Executive Vice-President and Board Member at KPIT Technologies, expressed excitement about the partnership with Microsoft, emphasising the added value it brings to OEM clients by enhancing the after-sales service experience, particularly for electric vehicle (EV) owners. The collaboration is expected to increase technician productivity by over 35%, leveraging Generative AI for more intelligent guided diagnostics and an elevated user experience.
KPIT showcased the Copilot at its booth during the CES 2024 electronics expo in Las Vegas.
