BASF Process Catalysts, a renowned provider of cutting-edge catalyst technology, has unveiled a new partnership with Envision Energy, a leading provider of comprehensive net-zero solutions in green technology. The collaboration aims to advance the conversion of green hydrogen and CO2 into e-methanol through a sophisticated and dynamic process design.
Leveraging their respective expertise, the two companies seek to enhance the efficiency of e-methanol production from green hydrogen and CO2, thereby contributing to a more sustainable energy landscape. BASF will supply its state-of-the-art SYNSPIRET catalyst technology, which Envision Energy will integrate with its innovative energy management system. The collaborative effort aims to showcase the effectiveness of the advanced process design next year at Envision Energy’s Chifeng site in Inner Mongolia, China.
The novel catalyst developed by BASF marks a significant breakthrough in sustainable energy solutions, facilitating the effective conversion of green hydrogen and CO2 into e-methanol. E-methanol, derived from renewable energy sources, stands out as a versatile and clean-burning fuel with the potential to replace fossil fuels like gasoline and kerosene in various industries, including road, shipping, and air transport. Its stability allows for easy storage at room temperature and ambient pressure, contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and fostering a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
Envision Energy will design a process package tailored to maximise the efficiency of the catalyst technology while enabling the dynamic conversion of green hydrogen and CO2 into e-methanol, synchronized with wind power availability. Employing its pioneering AIoT platforms, Envision Energy aims to optimize the innovative, dynamic operation of chemical plants.
